About

The Noquemanon Trail Network is a 501c3 organization dedicated to developing, maintaining, signing and mapping a non-motorized water and land trail network throughout Marquette and Alger Counties in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

We currently are grooming 75K of ski trails in Marquette County including the Lower Noquemanon Trail, Saux Head and the Big Bay Pathway. We are contract groomers for the Michigan DNR at the Blueberry Ridge Trails & we also partner with the City of Ishpeming with the Al Quaal ski area. Funding for our grooming efforts comes from our membership and ski pass system.

* For more information on membership and the ski armband program, please see our trail pass section.
* For additional information and maps of the above trails, please see our maps section.
* For updated ski grooming information, see our trail reports or sign up on the bottom of the website.

The network will also be used for hiking, running, off-road biking, horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking, skiing, and snowshoeing. We envision a community with trails leading from schools, downtowns, and neighborhoods to each other and out into our beautiful wilderness areas. We see the network as an important asset to the health of our residents and economy.

Our mission is to develop and maintain an interconnected, year round, non-motorized land and water trail network in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

We have secured over 60 miles of trails since 2001 and are pursuing more easements on even more trails throughout the entire County of Marquette, while also working with the Hiawatha Water Trail to develop a 120-mile water trail from Big Bay to Grand Marais.

We invite you to join us as members so that we can continue our mission of preserving quiet spaces for us to recreate whether that be hiking, trail running, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country skiing, observing nature, and snowshoeing.
